Why was the valley of the kings created?

The Valley of the Kings is a natural valley full of caves that were put to use as tombs for the dead kings. This took less time to create a tomb since they used the natural cave to start with and dug and created from there. It was also easier to hide than a large structure like a pyramid. Historians are always finding new tombs in the valley so they did a good job with covering up a tomb. This meant less grave robbers finding the treasures they held.
