there is no year on the coin
A US half dollar with a date of 1983 is a Kennedy half dollar not a liberty half dollar. The coin has no silver and most are only face value.
No, first off there were no silver dollars made in 1906, secondly, any dollar coin showing the Walking Liberty design (which would be the American Silver Eagle series) wouldn't be minted first till the 1980s. Half Dollars bearing the Walking Liberty design lasted from 1916-1947 so the Walking Liberty design wouldn't even be designed until much later than 1906.
No such thing. The US didn't mint any dollar coins that year.
It's not silver, just copper-nickel. Spend it.
The 1989 (and all other dates) One Dollar Silver Eagle coins are bullion coins that have 1 ounce of pure silver in them with a value that follows the market price of silver which changes by the minute and right now it's $17.34 per ounce. Because of that the worth of the coin is a little less than spot price at time of sale.
Please check again and post a new question. The last $1 silver certificates were dated 1957 and no $1 bills were printed with a 1983 date.
It's just 50 cents and the coin has no silver in it.
Dennis Conner skippered Liberty in the 1983 America's Cup.
If it's a circulation coin made out of nickel, it's only worth face value. If it's a silver proof, it could be worth about $15.
The only commemorative dollar struck that year is a 1983 Los Angeles Olympiad "Discus Thrower" coin. A proof "S" mintmark coin in the grade of PF-69 has a current market value of $35.00.
In 1980 Liberty Lobby, a conservitive organization, decided to mint silver coins for their members. This was the year that high inflation and high unemployment caused many people to speculate that a second great depression was inevitable. In 1983 a Liberty Lobby Silver Eagle, one troy once of .999 fine silver, sold for $13.00. These purchased coins came with a guarrantee of a $9.00 redemption buy back if returned in mint condition regardless of the price spot silver.
It is worth the price of silver, which at the moment is $27.35 per troy ounce. The price of silver fluctuates very rapidly however and may change value daily or even hourly.
