In the old days, back when segregation was the law of the land, even having one ancestor who was black could cause a person to suffer discrimination. But these days, past ancestry does not mark a person the way it used to. I think most people would think of Sasha and Malia as black, since their mother, Michelle Obama, is certainly black, and their dad, the president, while biracial, is generally considered by the culture to be black. I have not read many sources that describe the two Obama children as biracial, although a case could be made that since their maternal grandmother was white, they do have some white ancestry.

No. Although Barack Obama was born to a white mother and a black father, the one-drop rule as well as the fact that he self-identifies as African-American makes him black. Since Malia and Sasha Obama were born to a black father (Barack Obama) and a black mother (Michelle Obama) they too are black.

If we ignore the self-identification and the one-drop rule, Barack Obama is half-white. Since Michelle Obama was born to both a black mother and a black father she was completely black. Since a child inherits four 'quarters' in total in this case, she inherits two 'quarters' from Barack and two 'quarters' from Michelle. This gives Malia and Sasha one white quarter and three black quarters, making them 1/4 white.

However, they are generally considered to be fully black just as Barack Obama.
