You can become "a police woman" the same way you become a policeman. You need to go through the interviewing process along with the extensive background checks and then you enter the 20 week academy. However to even be eligible to enter the academy you must be a minimum of 21 years old. After your 20 weeks in the academy that will then judge whether or not you are eligible to become a police officer. In the academy you will get a certain amount of hours in the classroom but also you will get experience out in the field with a FTO or Field Training Officer. The Field Training Officer is just basically an officer who has been with the department for years and has experience. Hope that answers your question!
