order in society
Confucianism was not classified as a religion primarily because it emphasizes ethical living, social harmony, and moral conduct rather than the salvation of the soul or an afterlife. It focuses on the cultivation of virtues such as filial piety, respect for authority, and the importance of education and self-improvement. Instead of divine worship or rituals aimed at spiritual salvation, Confucianism promotes a framework for personal and societal ethics, guiding individuals on how to live harmoniously within their communities.
Confucius did not create a religion called Confucianism. Instead, his teachings emphasized moral values, ethics, and social harmony. Confucianism developed later as a philosophical and ethical system based on his teachings.

Confucianism is not a religion, but rather a philosophy. It deals with many things that might be considered religious, such as morality, but has no particular insights about a deity, nor is religion required to exercise morality. There does, however, exist a continuing debate whether or not Confucianism can be considered a religion. The answer depends largely on one's definition of "religion".
There is no current leader because it is more of a way of life than a religion
Communists saw Confucianism as a traditional feudal ideology that promoted hierarchy and social inequality, which was seen as incompatible with their goal of creating a classless society. They viewed Confucianism as a tool of the ruling class to maintain their power and control over the masses. Additionally, Confucianism emphasized filial piety and loyalty to the emperor, which the Communists believed undermined the idea of loyalty to the proletarian revolution.
