You could say that US citizens pay taxes to support the government. You might also say that US citizens pay taxes because they wish to receive the various services which the government performs for them. Or, you could say that US citizens pay taxes to avoid being arrested for tax evasion. There are lots of ways of looking at it.

This is potentially an explosive topic. The question is not whether illegal aliens are paying taxes. Are they citizens of the US? [I am assuming a US context] If they are paying taxes, how did they obtain a Social Security Number? Many illegal aliens are in very difficult situations, and I mean no one harm. But there are not many nations on earth where you can obtain citizenship simply by crossing the border. There is, or ought to be, the rule of law in any civilized nation.
US citizens have the responsibility to serve on a jury, they are required to pay taxes on all income that they earn no matter what source the income is from, and the US government requires citizens to carry a US passport when traveling out of the country.
