Department of Defense, which is part of the Executive branch
Most governments have an Executive agency, a Health agency, an Education agency, and a Military agency; various governments have many other agencies depending on the type of government.
The President of the United States, the Vice President, the Cabinet, and other departments and agencies are all part of the Executive Branch. There are over 4 million Americans that work in the United States Executive Branch, which includes the military.
executive branch
Executive Order 12196 was issued on 26 February. It applies to all agencies of the Executive Branch of the US Government, except military personnel and uniquely military equipment. In broad terms, it requires that each Executive Agency furnish to employees places and conditions of employment that are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm, establish and operate a formal Occupational Safety and Health Program, designate an agency official to manage that program, and comply with the OSHA standards except where an alternative agency standard may be approved by the Secretary of Labor. This Executive had little effect on OSHA, other than expanding somewhat its advisory role to other Federal agencies. Its effect on the Army was to require that Army operation's that were not uniquely military in character had to comply with OSHA standards. However, enforcement was from within the Department of Defense.
The President of the United States is the head of the Executive Branch of the United States Government, tasked with carrying out and enforcing laws and policies enacted by Congress. The President then may delegate his executive power to agencies and entities within the government, such as the military (Department of Defense), FBI (Federal Police), IRS, DEA, etc.
EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 9066FEBRUARY 19, 1942Authorizing the Secretary of War to Prescribe Military Areas
The military was desegregated by executive order. Executive Order 9981, signed by President Truman on July 26, 1948, forbade discriminating against military personnel because of race, color, religion, or national origin.
a little bit of everything. The Executive is the head of the party, the government, the state, the military, foreign affairs, etc
Yes. The military is considered a part of the executive branch. The President is also considered to be the highest ranking commander of the military- the "commander-in-chief"- although he is not actually in the military. The Founding Fathers wanted the commander-in-chief to be a civilian, not a military officer.
