How did Abraham Lincoln get his education?

His step mother (Sarah Bush Johnston) encouraged Lincoln to read and he is said to have spent a large amount of time at the public library reading. Lincoln himself said he only had 2 years of formal education.

Lincoln had almost not formal education- he estimated that in his whole life he had had about one year of formal education. While he was growing up in rural Indiana, he was able to attend some classes that a traveling school master would offer. Some people helped him learn outside of school.
