How did Franklin Roosevelt's political views compare with Herbert Hoover's?

Roosevelt believed that the federal government should control the economy, provide jobs for people out of work, provide social security for old people and others unable to work, spend large sums on new domestic programs, borrow money as needed and participate actively in foreign conflicts.

They agreed on several of the approaches that Roosevelt used to promote economic recovery but Hoover believed that federal government should be limited to the powers granted to it by the US Constitution. He did not want the US to be drawn into foreign wars.
