Carver developed his crop rotation method which alternated legumes, such as peanuts and peas that inrich the soil, with cotton, which depletes soil of its nutrients. This allowed the soil to replenish itself. Not only did he find ways to keep the soil productive, he also found ways to use any surplus crops so that they did not rot in warehouses. This changed people's lives by improving the output of crops that were grown as well as making sure that there was very little, if any waste left from surplus crops.
