The border states during the US Civil War had to deal with both pro-Union people and pro-Confederate people. With the exception of Delaware, the other three border states of Kentucky, Missouri and Maryland were places of conflict and invasions. They did not join the Confederacy and within those thee states, internal conflicts, aided by both Northern and Southern pressures made like horrible for many of their citizens.
Lincoln was elected President in 1860. During Lincoln's presidency, the Southern states seceded from the Union because Lincoln and the Northern states were against slavery. Six weeks after becoming President, the Civil War began. In this war, the Northern states fought the Southern states. The Civil War lasted from 1861 until 1865. Linclon should deal with slavery with more power in his presidency to make the south states take his orders without a war.

They have installed fences, checkpoints, and special cameras that can detect human bodies, to help prevent illegal passing.
