Patrick: I am Mike enrollment counselor at Grand Canyon University, I recommend you contact me to go over the BS in Public Safety, it is a degree specifically for Homeland Security, my #877-223-5366 The department of Homeland Security has many different positions available, all requiring different level's of education. Starting from an associates degree working your way up. An associates degree in criminal justice would be a great start. Check into you local ITT Technical Institute, or other tech school, as they most likely offer this program.
That is a very complicated question. Most people do not know the answer to that question. Even asking your guidance counselor or financial aid office is not always helpful. It really depends on what your status is here in the U.S. I recommend that you try to contact Department of Homeland Security and inquire your exact status. Sorry for the intricate response.
