Army Ranger Not true. There are LOTS of SF soldiers who've never been in the Rangers. There are essentially two ways to join Special Forces: from inside and from outside. First you must meet the criteria--and there are a lot of them, like being a US citizen, on active duty or going there, pass an SF physical, go airborne, so on and so forth. And you need to be able to swim 50 meters in your uniform and boots. (Hint: The Special Forces swim test contains an event where you get on a high dive board wearing your uniform, a rucksack and a blindfold. To pass this event, you must walk off the end of the diving board, land in the water, remove the blindfold and rucksack, and swim to the side of the pool. This one event kept me from joining Special Operations Command; I can't go off even a low diving board, much less a high dive.) Once you've done all of this, if you're not in the army yet you join and go to infantry school. You then attend the 30-day Special Operations Preparation Course, or SOPC. Here you learn very advanced land navigation and do a lot of physical training. Next step is Special Forces Assessment and Selection--a 24-day job interview at Fort Bragg. Officers who pass this go to their branch's Officer Advanced Course if they haven't already been; enlisted go back to their home station to await assignment orders to the JFK Special Warfare Center and School. All SF candidates then attend the Special Forces Qualification Course, or the Q Course. This is a school that varies in length; the Medic course is nearly a year long. It used to be that once you passed the Robin Sage exercise you were a Green Beret; now you must attend language school and the Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape course to be considered fully qualified.

There are no female green berets.
This is a very special award. JFK authorized the Green Beret in 1961. Approximately 85 men have been inducted into the US Army Special Forces Green Beret Hall of Fame as of summer 2012.

The green beret would win because they have special training and mafia is just a group of misfit thugs.
