There are multiple methods of being disenrolled from the Air Force Academy. The most "friendly" is the AFCW Form 34. This form is filled out by a cadet to voluntarily leave the Academy. Processing takes a few weeks, and then the cadet is free to leave as a civilian if they have not yet begun their third year.

Cadets can be involuntarily disenrolled for academic, physical, or military performance deficiencies as well as excessive disregard for rules or violation of the Uniform Code of Military justice.

Violation of the Cadet Honor Code, "We will not lie, steal, or cheat, nor tolerate among us anyone who does," is also grounds for immediate disenrollment.

Every disenrollment, whether voluntary or involuntarily must be given final approval by the Superintendent of Cadets. Also, any disenrollment after the first day of classes of the third (Junior) year carries a commitment to serve time enlisted in the Air Force.
