The answer to your question depends on the mission of the company. Artillery units have batteries and Cavalry units have troops, both of which are basically the same as a company. Companies generally have between 70 and 200 soldiers. Combat Arms companies (such as infantry) have approximately 133 soldiers, but again, this is dependent on the type of company. Airborne units, Light Infantry units and Mechanized units differ based on their mission and method of employment. Also, each US Infantry Division had a recon unit that was usually referred to as a Recon Troop(Mechanized). This was a small unit, smaller than a company, I believe.

It would depend on the size of the troop as to what they were called. A legion was (ideally) 6,000 men. A century would be eighty men. A contubernium would be eight men.It would depend on the size of the troop as to what they were called. A legion was (ideally) 6,000 men. A century would be eighty men. Yes, the National Guard is a deployable force, just like any other military branch. The US Army National Guard is the entire reserve force of Combat Arms units for the US Army (save for one infantry battalion assigned to the US Army Reserve), and these units have been called up regularly since 2001 for deployments around the world.
You have to have atleast a GED or high school diploma to join the military. But the Army National Guard has a program called 'Patriot Acedemy' where you can go and get your GED to join. In the National Guard, you can either work part-time, like most of the National Guard soldiers, or you can apply to work full time with the Guard. It would be just like being an active duty soldier except they cant move you to different bases. Check out the National Guard at www.nationalguard.com. Then search for 'patriot acedemy' I hope you get to join. The service needs a few good (wo)men
