The House begins the procedure by passing a bill of impeachment which lists the charges against the president. The Senate , presided over by the Chief Justice, then holds a trial. A 2/3 vote in favor of conviction is required to remove the president from office.
A simple majority ( more than half of those voting) suffices to pass a bill of impeachment in the House of Representatives. If such a bill is passed by the House, the Senate hold a trial, based on the charges in the House bill. Two-thirds of the Senators ( that is 67 Senators, if all vote) must vote in favor of conviction in order to remove the President from office.

Well actually nobody can be guilty of impeachment, because impeachment isn't a crime. Impeachment is the process by which Congress charges a federal official with a crime and the subsequent trials associated with the criminal act. Most commonly federal officials are impeached on charges of treason or misconduct in their role as a government official. In order for someone to be impeached and removed from office 2/3 of Congress must vote in favor of his or her removal.
