Yes, China does have elecitons, with hundreds of millions participating every five years. Yet how efficient these elections can be is questioned by not only Westerners but also by some Chinese. As result, many don't have the passion to vote. So don't these elections represent any opinion of the people? Or is it another version of democracy? You decide.
No, China is not a democratic country.
Elections in the Bahamas often occur every 4 years.
China has a one-party system led by the Communist Party of China (CPC), which means that there are no competitive elections for national leadership. While there are elections at local levels, these are tightly controlled, and candidates often need to be approved by the CPC. The National People's Congress (NPC) is the highest state body, but its members are largely chosen through indirect elections and are expected to endorse CPC decisions rather than make independent choices. Overall, the voting system in China does not allow for democratic competition as seen in multi-party systems.
Unlike Denmark and Serbia people in China are unable to vote in elections instead they puts their thumbs up and point at the candidate they forsee as a fit leader for the proud people of China. Springrolls may also be involved.
