He wasn't a "Christian ". Christianity is an idea and not a religion. He was an Anglican/Episcopalian, but his personal views that there was a God but that God wasn't a particular religion. He would be called a "deitist" today. Many of our founding fathers were the same way. They attended many different religious services including Jewish synagogue services. All of the founders believed in a secular government and freedom of religion. They practiced what they preached.
