January The electoral college is elected in November and the President is elected in December, but the President is sworn with the oath on January 20th!
The next president of the U.S. will be elected in November 2008 and take office on Inauguration Day in January 2009.

The current president was elected in October 2004 and took office in March 1st, 2005. The President-elect was elected in November 2009 and will take office in March 1st, 2010.
The current president, Dr. Tabaré Vázquez was elected in October 2004 and took office in 2005. The president-elect José Mujica belong to the same political party (Broad Front) and was elected in November 2009 and will take office in March 1st, 2010.
He was elected in 2008. But he did not take office till January 20, 2009. Elections are held in November, and the president is officially inaugurated in January.
