Yes, this has been proven without a doubt, although there is still a group that denies the evidence (see discussion). He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 4, 1961 at 7:24 PM in the Kapiolani Maternity and Gynecological Hospital.

The (Republican) Governor of Hawaii since 2002, Linda Lingle, attested to the validity of Barack Obama's state-issued Certification of Live Birth (Hawaii's Birth Certificate).

The President was "vetted" and approved as a qualified candidate to run for the office and, when elected, he was sworn into office as President by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Roberts, who could not have done that if there were any question of his qualifications. He has publicly provided a Certification of Live Birth from the State of Hawaii (which is the same as a Birth Certificate in that state).

The US Supreme Court agrees that he has proved his US Citizenship and has declined to hear a suit against his election, or qualification for president. Several state and federal suits were also dismissed as well.

He is what is called a "natural born citizen". He was born in the United States, specifically Hawaii. According to the Constitution, a person cannot become President of the U.S. unless they are a natural born citizen:

The Congressional Research Service has stated that "the weight of scholarly legal and historical opinion indicates that the term [natural born citizen] means one who is entitled under the Constitution or laws of the United States to US citizenship 'at birth' or 'by birth' which includes any child born 'in' the United States, even to alien parents (other than to foreign diplomats serving their country); the children of United States citizens born abroad; and those born abroad of one citizen parent who has met U.S. residency requirements."

Additionally, the Honolulu Advertiser and the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, two Hawaiian newspapers, have produced from archives the August 1961 birth announcements for Barack Obama.

The President is a citizen of only the United States, and has never held another citizenship instead of or in addition to United States citizenship.
