No, he was not. After winning re-election by a wide margin in 1924, he decided not to run for another term in 1928 and retired to his home of Northampton MA. He helped some local Republican candidates with their campaigns, but mostly spent time with his family and did some writing. He died unexpectedly in early January 1933, of heart failure. According to the newspapers, it was his wife who found him, lying on the floor dead.
