Gerald Ford, who served as President of the United States between August 9, 1974 and January 20, 1977, was never assassinated, in spite of two attempts of his life. The first saw Lynette Frome, a follower of Charles Manson, point a Colt .45-calibre handgun at Ford before Larry Buendorf, a Secret Service agent, grabbbed the gun and prevented it from firing.

On the second occasion, just seventeen days later, Sara Jane Moore, pointed a pistol at him in San Francisco, though Marine Olvier Sipple deflected her shot.
