One of the four ways that voters can complete election ballots in the US is by casting their vote in person at a polling location. Another option is an absentee ballot that is mailed in. Early voting, which can be done through mail or in person, and finally, a less common way to vote is email. This is only available to a few of those in the military.
The first state to mail sample ballots to its voters prior to an election was Oregon. Oregon pioneered the practice in the late 1800s as part of its efforts to increase voter education and participation.

In the most recent election cycle of April, 2015, 10,323 ballots were issued. Total ballots cast (voted) were 3,954.
