Not one thing can be blamed for anything; and anyone, to include non-veterans have performed such acts.
Many of the Vietnam vets still suffer from PSD and various health problems from exposure to Agent Orange. Some came back addicted to drugs and have gone through family problems, as well as loss of jobs. ANY war affects the men who fight it. They have seen awful things and it can't help but change them in some way. They may not talk about it, but it is there.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Of those who have been in combat, most of them if not all.
government reports about Vietnam were often contradicted by news reports. ~ Novanet and gradpoint(:
Trench Foot
Some suffer from Post Traumitic Stress Disorders and flashbacks, others just went on with their lives.
One foot infection that soldiers in Vietnam suffered from was an infection called trench foot. Also, many soldiers in Vietnam suffered from basic fungal infections on their feet.
In 1 Corinthians Ch.12, Christians are likened to a human body in that our head is Christ and we are all members one of another. As such we really feel it when other Christians suffer, and it is written in vs. 26: "And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it."
Originally PTS surfaced from the Vietnam War...then it got politically tangled up with automobile accidents, heart attack victims, earth quake victims, 9/11 victims, fist fights, riots, airplane crashes, WWII veterans, and people just having a bad day at work all of sudden were suffering from Post Traumatic Stress disorder, bottom line: it's being abused. The original roots of PTS was from men being drafted against their will; fighting a war in Vietnam against their will; returning home and fighting their own families and friends against their will; being fired or not hired because they were Vietnam Veterans...this COMBINED with the war experience itself created "stress". Since it occurred after their return from Vietnam it was labeled "post". Since war was traumatic, it was labeled "Traumatic". Possibly (since most war vets from the Civil War and World Wars have passed on, and no one knows for sure)...possibly this is why "many" Vietnam "combat" veterans just want to live in the mountains or some place away from society and be left alone.
