However, Republicans are generally associated with being more "hawkish" and always vote to expand the military budget; Democrats, while wanting the military to have what it needs to defend us, are more likely to want to see the military budget used more effectively, with unnecessary expenditures cut back and funding eliminated for weapons that the Pentagon no longer wants.
