The Army Reserves is a part of the U.S. military that allows individuals to serve part-time while maintaining civilian careers or education. Reservists undergo training and may be called to active duty during emergencies, national crises, or to support military operations. They play a vital role in augmenting the active-duty forces and provide specialized skills and support in various capacities. Additionally, they participate in regular drills and training exercises to maintain readiness.
If you are in the Army your fulltime job is to be in the Army. If you are in the Reserves you go through the training then go back to your civillian life until needed (train one weekend a month). Two separate gigs- army and army reserves. Lots of people will stay in reserves after their time as full time.
The Army Reserve is entirely funded by the federal government.
