Lincoln lost his mother when he was six. Washington lost his father when he was twelve.

Lincoln had to make his own contacts. Washington's brother introduced him to people who would help him and give him work.

Lincoln would borrow books and then return them to the owner and discuss them. Washington would visit a person and read the book in the person's library and then discuss it.

Lincoln worked constantly, failed in business twice, and finally made money reading law. In more settled times he would have been an extremely successful rich lawyer. Washington worked constantly but then married money. In more settled times, he would have lived the life of a country squire.

Lincoln served briefly in a Militia. Washington spent years in the Military.
