The 950 JDJ is not intended as an ultra-long range cartridge. There is no sniper rifle in that caliber.
The cartridge itself is. It has a flatter trajectory than the .308. As for the rifle itself, it all depends on the tolerances and build quality.
If you mean the SVD Sniper rifle manufactured by the Soviet Union, no, it is not a .50 caliber weapon. It fires a match grade version of the 7.62 X 54R cartridge- the same round used by the Moisin-Nagant 91/30 rifle (and the M38 and M44 Carbines). Wikipedia has a good concise article on the Dragunov sniper rifle. Enjoy.
3 things.. accuracy, range, and persistence. a sniper can be any rifle or pistol of any caliber just some are alot better like the barrett but a sniper rifle needs to be accurate when you fire upon the target, it needs to continually hit that spot and it needs to do so from a good distance ill say 300 yards and more. also as it goes a sniper rifle is only as good as the handler.
No
It's a good caliber, yes.
It is for the price.
m14
1800 meters is 5905 feet, which makes it something over a mile (5280 feet in a mile). Pretty good for a sniper rifle.
You need the services of a good gunsmith
It depends what you need it for. If you need a large heavy sniper for woodland get the l96. But if you want a light tactical sniper which is good for urban warfare aswell get the m50.
