You're possibly thinking of a cephalopod. Octopuses, squids, cuttlefish and nautilises are all cephalopods, althoug nautilises are the only ones with shells. Technically their appendages are considered arms. Other tentacled marine creatures include jellyfish, hydras, corals and sea anemones, all in the cnidarian family.
