Davis Moor Thesis was based off of three main things with one big question: prestige, power, and wealth and how do we measure the social classes. Davis Moor claimed that rewards were the valued things given to those who are the most important in society. He also said that greater rewards were given to those who are in a difficult occupation to fill. Take for instance a doctor. A doctor has to go to school for many more years than the average employee and so because of this, he gets lifes "perks". He gets paid more because his job takes a lot to fill.

What is Davis Moore thesis outline?

The Davis-Moore thesis is a sociological theory that argues that stratification is necessary and natural because it ensures that the most important positions in society are filled by the most qualified individuals. It suggests that higher rewards are necessary to incentivize people to strive for these positions, creating a functional hierarchy in society. However, critics point out that the theory fails to address how social inequalities can perpetuate themselves through generations.

What are three strengths and weaknesses of the Davis-Moore Theory?

The Davis-Moore Theory posits that social stratification is essential for the functioning of society, as it ensures that the most important roles are filled by the most qualified individuals. Strengths of this theory include its emphasis on meritocracy, its explanation of social inequality as a motivator for individuals to strive for higher positions, and its focus on the functional necessity of different roles. However, weaknesses include its oversimplification of social mobility, its neglect of the influence of inherited wealth and privilege, and its failure to account for the varying degrees of importance assigned to different roles across cultures.
