The Purple Heart is our nation's FIRST medal; and General Washington did state, "...that it's amazing what men will do for a simple piece of purple cloth..."(purple cloth was the first purple heart medal). States "might" not publish a list of Purple Heart recipients for public review, and any list you might find on the web are most likely "voluntarily submitted" names. Which means that a lot of men who don't use the computer won't have their names listed.
A list can be acquired from the Military order of the Purple Heart. Most of the websites I examined after reading your question were incomplete in their data, Due to new recipients from OIF,OEF. Female Purple Heart WIA recipients World War II - 100 Korea - 3 Vietnam - 10 Persian Gulf - 6 Iraq / Afghanistan 741 (2006) VFW Magazine March 2011 edition, page 16, article Women at War
No, there is not. The Purple Heart is one of the most common awards and has been received by over 800,000 individuals. No, at least not from the Vietnam era or prior. This answer is inaccurate and does a poor job answering the question. The purple heart is one of the more uncommon awards in the military. There has been hundreds of millions of service members since the creation of the award. The number of Purple hearts awarded is estimated to be closer to 1.6 million. Purple heart recipients make up less then 1 percent of all service members to ever serve. There is no complete list but the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor has a list of over 70,000 recipient's.
The state with the greatest number of Medicare recipients is California; 4,149,690
Green Heart or Purple Heart
The US military's oldest medal is the Purple Heart Medal.
No, there is not a consolidated list. This medal has been earned by over 800,000 individuals. There are several reasons that there is no such list. First, due to the number of servicemen who have been and are being awarded the Purple Heart, creating and maintaining such a list would be nearly impossible. Secondly, not all awards of the the Purple Heart have been documented, and many of the recipients themselves, the only ones who still remember their award, have died, and so the fact that they received this decoration has been forgotten. Also, just an FYI--the NARA (National Archive) in St Louis suffered a major fire in ca. 1969 many, many veteran's records were completely lost (over 60%).AnswerThe official site from the government is linked to the right as "National WWII Memorial." AnswerThere is a book called Purple Heart by Turner publishing and is a list of purple heart recipients and can be obtained from "Staticline books" box 87518 college park Georgia zip 30337-0518 AnswerThere is no list of WW 2 Purple Heart Recipients from a source based in fact. The only "lists" available are those assembled by individuals seeking others to add names to a list. Not the most accurate means to obtain historic facts. AnswerI found this site that might help: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~sebring/index.htmAnswerNo such list exists.

No Benefits exist or are implied. The medal says "For Valor" and is a recognition of having been wounded " in an action against hostile forces". (In the Viet Nam conflict the US Marines sent recipients of three awards stateside without regard to time in country). Wrong. Each state has different benefits most are very minor benefits. Some allow free hunting & fishing licenses and things like that.
I am not aware of the Purple Heart ever being made with pure gold. The medallion that is made today is actually a brass core that has been anodized to the gold color.
