Without this information, its really hard to give a value, but if its not from the 1800s (such as a campaign medal) it is likely to just be worth little more than its metal value (which will be a couple of cents if its a base metal like bronze, brass, lead or zinc) or it might be precious (like gold or silver) in which case it can be worth quite a bit if it is large.
