The Japanese Stock exchange opens at 9:00 - 15:00 local time (midnight - 6:00AM GMT (UTC)).
Please note, Nikkei is an index, NOT a market, the same as the FSTE 100 in the UK Exchange, or Dow Jones on the NYSE. If you can't tell this fundamental difference, I strongly suggest getting professional adivce on how to invest. Some useful FREE advice can be found from Hargreaves Lansdown (hl.co.uk) and other such firms.
Not to be picky but the Nikkei isn't a stock market. It's an index for the Tokyo Stock Exchange which opens in the morning from 9:00 to 11:00 am and the afternoon from 12:30 to 3:00 pm. This means the first session opens at 4PM PST and closes at 6pm PST. It's not the DOW that opens and closes it's the NYSE.
