Her marriage to JFK was not the love-match it looked like. JFK's father had strong ambitions for his son to get to the White House, and virtually ordered him to marry this highly suitable candidate for First Lady.

Her secondmarriage, to Onassis, was very much a marriage of convenience. She was in shock after the assassination of Bobby Kennedy, and wanted to live away from America. She also wanted the trappings of great wealth, often a sign of private dissatisfaction.The two were seldom seentogether, and he was planning to divorce her at the time of his death.
