Joe Kennedy Jr.'s last words, as reported by witnesses, were "We’re going in," just before he and his crew took off on a dangerous mission during World War II on August 12, 1944. He was piloting a modified B-24 bomber when the aircraft exploded in mid-air. This mission ultimately led to his tragic death at the age of 29.

From the pictures I've seen once both men were fully grown in height, it appears the Joe Jr. was just slightly shorter than JFK. JFK was 6'0 in height and I think Joe Jr. was probably about 5'11.5". Joe Jr was about as tall or slightly taller as their dad Joe Kennedy Sr. which was 5'11. Joe Jr was always bigger and stronger than Jack and had broader shoulders. Half an inch is really not much because although 6'0 is considered the beginning of being tall, there are many men that are 5'11" that can be considered tall as well by their posture and their build.
Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. was the oldest Kennedy brother, born on July 25, 1915. He served as a naval aviator in World War II and died in a mission in 1944.
While there may be a memorial in Arlington. Joe Jr. was Killed in action during WWII. His bodied was never recovered.
