George Washington's eldest child, Lawrence Washington, died on July 26, 1752, from tuberculosis. However, Washington had no surviving children with his wife, Martha Custis; they raised her two children from her previous marriage. Their only child together, a daughter named Patsy, died in 1773 at the age of 17 from epilepsy. Washington's other stepchild, John Parke Custis, passed away in 1781.
