Washington, Jefferson, Jackson, Buchanan, Cleveland, Wilson, Harding, Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Bush, Clinton 13 all but two took the country to war. Actually Washington did not technically take the country to war! He was sort of drafted into being the Commander in Chief, and he was not president when he was Commander in Chief. He became president after the war. Also, there was not war when Jefferson was President or Jacskon either.
their most important decision was making George Washington their commander in chief (president).

Chief administrator? He isn't chief administrator. He is President and Commander-in-Chief ... which means he commands the army, but most presidents do not take on this feat and instead, have the respective leaders of each branch brief them on what they want to do. Then the President says yes or no, rather than coming up with war tactics on his/her own.As president, they have a role to promote peace and make sure the country is doing what it should. Make policy decisions, veto bills, sign bills, really. They are the decision maker, they don't do it, people do it for them and they say yes or no. And they can make up their own policies but there are check and balances. Read the constitution buddy.
