Rachel Donelson Jackson (1767-1828) died after her husband, President-Elect Andrew Jackson was elected in November, 1828, but before his inauguration in March, 1829. She was buried on Christmas Eve at the Hermitage, their home near Nashville, Tennessee, in the white dress she had bought for the upcoming inauguration festivities.
