Civil Rights Under pressure from the NAACP and Eleanor Roosevelt, and other minority leaders, the New Dealers made sure Blacks shared in relief programs.
Eleanor Roosevelt was supported by a diverse coalition of individuals and groups, including women's rights activists, civil rights leaders like W.E.B. Du Bois, and political allies within the Democratic Party. Organizations such as the League of Women Voters and the NAACP also backed her initiatives. Additionally, her husband, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, provided significant support for her endeavors, allowing her to champion social justice and human rights issues on a national and international stage.
