Only two films dealt directly with Seal indoctrination, training, etc- they were Navy Seals- and also G.I. Jane.. The latter title is somewhat misleading as GI is normally applied only to Army personnel. The science-fiction film The Abyss dealt periphherally with Seals operation as they were to provide security for a submarine salvage operation. Of course, there were earlier films dealing with USN and USMC frogmen, U.d.t. ( Underwater demolition teams) and so on, as SEALS is a more modern acronym.
Cuba Gooding Jr. portrayed the first Black Navy SEAL in the movie "Men of Honor," released in 2000. The film is based on the true story of Carl Brashear, who overcame racial discrimination and personal challenges to become the Navy's first African American Master Diver. Gooding's performance highlights the determination and resilience of Brashear in the face of adversity.
