The Republican party
The Republicans took control. They needed to get six seats to turn, they got seven, with three still undecided. They now control both houses of Congress.
As of Nov. 7, 2010, the democrats control both houses of congress. In January, when the next session starts, the republicans will take control of the house. The senate, however, remains in democratic control.
In 1947, the Republican Party held the majority in both houses of Congress. This shift occurred after the 1946 midterm elections, where Republicans gained control of the House of Representatives and the Senate. This marked the first time since 1932 that the GOP had a majority in Congress.
YASS!!!
The Republicans will, assuming this question refers to the 2010 US midterm elections.
The Republican Party has taken control of the US House of Representatives on many occasions. Most recently they became the majority in that body following the 2010 elections.
In the 1990s, the Democratic Party won the presidency with Bill Clinton's election in 1992 and his re-election in 1996. However, they lost control of Congress after the 1994 midterm elections, when the Republican Party gained significant majorities in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. This shift marked the beginning of a period of divided government in the United States.
The net result of the 2006 congressional elections was a loss of six Senate seats and 30 House seats by the Republican Party, costing them their majority in both Houses.
Truman, Eisenhower, Clinton were elected to a second term after losing congress in the 1st midterm. Wilson, F. Roosevelt, Johnson, Nixon, and Regan either didn't lose it or lost it after the first midterm.
midterms? everyone primary ? depends on primary set up,closed only party members vote,open..cross voting permitted
Often a president's party will lose seats in Congress during the midterm elections. This is likely due to people being dissatisfied with the president or party's performance and voting differently.
The Democrats became the majority party in the US Senate.
As of my last update in October 2023, I do not have information about the specific outcomes of elections that occurred after that date. To find out which party won control of both the House and the Senate in the most recent election, I recommend checking reliable news sources or official election results.
