Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson, Martin Van Buren, James K. Polk, Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan, Grover Cleveland, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, James E. Carter Jr., William J. Clinton, Barack Obama

Although the parties of Jefferson, Madison, Monroe and Adams no doubt had the word "Domocratic" as part of their names, they were not a forerunner of the present-day Democratic Party. You should also know that Jackson's Democratic party split and essentially died just before the Civil War. I would begin the list with Cleveland, the first President elected from the modern Democratic party and the first to defeat a Republican candidate. You can make a case the Jackson's party was a forerunner of the modern Demcratic Party.
