President Woodrow Wilson ordered Veracruz occupied in April of 1914, to protect American interests.
American troops at Veracruz during the Mexican-American War were commanded by General Winfield Scott. He led the successful amphibious assault and subsequent occupation of the city in April 1847. Scott's campaign at Veracruz was a pivotal part of his overall strategy to capture Mexico City. His leadership during this operation helped to establish his reputation as a prominent military leader.

General MacArthur was ordered move his command from the Philippines to Australia, and left thousands of his American and Filipino troops behind without supplies. Abandoned troops surrendered at Bataan in April and at Corregidor in May. The Japanese forced these POW's to march to a prison camp near Cabunatuan. Thousands of American and Filipino soldiers died of malnutrition, illness, and torture during the Bataan Death March.:-)
Yes, on April 26, 1865 a detachment of troops tracked Booth to a barn where he was hiding. They ordered him to surrender and he refused. The troops then set fire to the barn. When Booth tried to escape the flames he was shot.
