Much as the Congress has some power over the President, so does the state legislature have some power over the governor, although just as a President is seldom impeached, so are state governors seldom impeached. Beyond that, of course, in a democracy, the voters have the ultimate responsibility to decide whether a governor is doing a good job and deserves to be re-elected or not.
