Who was Adam's second wife?

In Genesis, there are two creation accounts. In the first creation account, man and woman were created together. Rabbinic tradition is that this first woman was Lilith and was Adam's first wife, but she left him and flew away because Adam would not let her be on top during sexual intercourse. In this interpretation, Yahweh created Eve in the second story because Adam was still single and needed company. By means of two relatively recent traditions, one obvious inconsistency between the two creation accounts has been rationalised. In Hebrew mythology, Lilith was the Demoness of desolation, obsession, and madness.

Eve was Adam's first and only recorded wife according to the Bible. She was called 'the mother of all living.' Although Eve is notably Adams wife, according to the kabbalah, God first made a woman of dust as he did Adam, named Lilith. She thought since she was made the same why as Adam she was her equal. Because she would not lay beneath Adam, and that was the only way he would have her, she left. There were two Eves. The first was destroyed by the lord, and the second was Eve as we know her.

Islamic Answer The creation of the woman Adam knew the names of everything. Sometimes he talked to the angels, but they were preoccupied(too busy) with worshipping Almighty Allah. Therefore Adam, felt lonely. One day he slept and when he awoke he found near his head, a woman gazing at his face with beautiful tender eyes.

Ibn Abbas and a group of companions of the Prophet (PBUH) narrated that when Iblis was sent out of Paradise and Adam was accommodated therein, Adam was alone in Paradise and did not have a partner from whom he could get tranquility. He slept for some time and when he woke up, he saw a woman whom Allah had created from his ribs. So he asked her, "Who are you? She replied, "A woman" He asked: "Why have you been created?" She said :"So that you could find tranquility in me." The angels, trying to find out the extent of his knowledge, asked him: "What is her name O Adam?" He replied, "Hawa (Eve)" They asked "Why was she so named?" He replied, " Because she was created from something living."

Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: "O Muslims! I advise you to be gentle with women, for they are created from a rib, and the most crooked portion of the rib is its upper part. If you try to straighten it, it will break and if you leave it, it will remain crooked, so I urge you to take care of the women." (Sahih Bukhari).

Actually, before Eve, was Lilith. When God created Adam, he was lonely, so God created Lilith from the same dust from which Adam was molded. But they quarrelled; Adam [the proverbial domineering male] wished to rule over Lilith. According to some legends, Adam first chose Lilith. However, this is not in The Bible anywhere, although there are some biblical commentaries and folk tales that tell this story. The Lilith myth was used by those who wanted to reinforce patriarchal attitudes: Lilith was depicted as demonic and dangerous: she was a woman unwilling to obey, and determined to be in charge. Thus, she had to be defeated, and she was scorned for not "knowing her place."
