Who won the 2009 Israeli elections?

It's a bit more complicated than 'who ran'. Israel has a complex parliamentary government.

There were over 30 parties on the ballot for this election. The parties considered the big three were: Kadima, Likud and Labor. The parties with the actual chance of having the prime minister come from their own were Kadima and Likud.

The leaders of Kadima and Likud are Tzipi Livni and Binyamin Netanyahu. Either of them will be determined the prime minister once it is decided which party actually won the right to create a coalition.
