Why did George Washington serve two full terms and only fifty-seven short days of eight years?

Washington's first term was 57 days short, because they was a delay in getting the votes counted and getting the inauguration set up. They started his second term on the date appointed by the Constitution (March 4), so his first term was short. The first term was the very first time that the US elected a Congress and a President under the new Constitution.
