Well, being in combat is a crappy situation to be in, first off. That's depressing enough. Be skeptical of anyone who tells you they've been there and are either to go back to it - chances are, they're either fibbing, or they may have deployed, but weren't actually in a line unit which saw real combat.
So if that weren't bad enough, imagine you find yourself under attack by your own side. Wouldn't that only make you feel as if the whole world were against you, even your own side?
