Unless she happens to be taller, she is not higher than the president. She has no official power and what power she has is virtually all derived from her proximity to the President. After he leaves office, she may be able to use her fame to develop a reputation of her own, as did Eleanor Roosevelt and Hillary Clinton, but while he is in office, she is definitely not higher.
