There are times when social workers must work independently to accomplish tasks. However more importantly, social workers must be able to work within a team environment which provides the best care and welfare of the individual in need. This means working through synergy. It is the notion of 2+2=5. In other words, four people working together can accomplish more than if they were to work independent of each other. Thus, while social workers must be self starters and be able to work independently to accomplish tasks, it is just as important (even more so) for them to work within a team approach to the care and welfare of those individuals in need.
